Founder Lead Titans

Founder Lead Titans

Founder-led companies are run by the people who built them. A founder-CEO typically holds a large personal stake, controls the board agenda, and thinks in decades rather than quarters, which tends to show up as heavier reinvestment in product and capacity and less emphasis on buybacks or short-term margin targets. As the largest US firms move through leadership transitions and activist pressure, the handful still steered by their founders stand apart in how capital is allocated and how strategy is set. A portfolio under this thesis selects US-listed companies whose founder or co-founder serves as chief executive or executive chair and retains a meaningful ownership position. The core pool is the largest founder-run names in software, semiconductors, e-commerce, media and consumer platforms, with a smaller set of founder-run mid- and small-cap firms in the same industries where the founder's stake and operating control are clearly documented.

PEGAPegasystems Inc

Pegasystems sells enterprise workflow-automation and customer-engagement software (Pega Infinity, Pega Cloud) — squarely inside the software and IT services industry scope. the governance test is met on every leg: the FY2026 DEF 14A (filed 2026-04-24) names Alan Trefler as founder and as chief executive officer and chairman since the company was organized in 1983, and its beneficial-ownership table shows 79,062,427 shares or 46.6% of common stock as of 2026-04-13. the stock is single-class (one vote per share), so voting power matches economics — roughly 47% versus the 3% economic threshold. market cap of about $5.8bn sits inside the $1–50bn satellite band, listed since 1996, nasdaq primary, us-domiciled. founder-CEO with controlling economic stake in an in-scope industry and in-scope size band → pure play for the satellite portfolio.

CPNGCoupang, Inc.

Coupang is a Delaware-domiciled, Seattle-headquartered, NYSE-listed e-commerce and logistics operator whose business is almost entirely in South Korea (plus Taiwan, Farfetch, Eats). founder test: the 2026 DEF 14A states Bom Kim founded the company and has been CEO and chairman since May 2010; he is 47 and no succession is disclosed. ownership test: he holds all 157.8m Class B shares (29 votes each) → 74.3% of total voting power and roughly 8.7% of shares outstanding on a 1,806.8m share count — both thresholds cleared with wide margin. size: $27.7bn market cap places it in the satellite pool; listed March 2021, so over three years of history; industry is e-commerce and internet retail, in scope. the founder-CEO mechanism operates on the whole company with no intermediation, so this is a pure play for the mid and small portfolio.

ZSZscaler, Inc. Common Stock

Zscaler is a single-segment cloud security SaaS business (Zero Trust Exchange — Zscaler Internet Access and Zscaler Private Access), fiscal 2025 revenue $2.67bn, listed on Nasdaq since march 2018, market cap about $35bn — inside the $1–50bn satellite band and inside the software industry scope. the thesis is a governance test and ZS passes every leg on primary filings: the DEF 14A filed 2025-11-21 names Jay Chaudhry co-founder, CEO and chairman since september 2007, and the ownership table as of 2025-11-01 shows him beneficially owning 26,857,608 shares, 16.8% — well above the 3% economic threshold on a single-class stock where voting power equals economic ownership. a further 18.2% sits in trusts for his family under a third-party trustee, so the founder family's combined economic interest is roughly 35%. founder-CEO, verified stake, in-scope industry, satellite size → pure play for this portfolio.

OKTAOkta, Inc. Class A Common Stock

Okta is a single-segment identity and access management software vendor (workforce identity on the Okta platform, customer identity via Auth0), fiscal 2026 revenue $2.919bn, gaap net income $235m, ~174m shares, $38.5bn market cap — inside the $1–50bn satellite band and in the software industry group the thesis scopes. the governance test is met directly: the May 7, 2026 proxy names Todd McKinnon as co-founder, chairperson and CEO (CEO and director since January 2009) and its beneficial ownership table shows 6,512,134 Class B shares (84.7% of the class) plus 368,707 Class A, giving 26.7% of total voting power and 3.9% total ownership — above both the 3% economic and 10% voting thresholds. age 54, listed 2017, no succession announced. founder-CEO with control via a 10-vote Class B, no intermediation → pure play for this satellite-pool portfolio.

IOTSamsara Inc.

Samsara sells a subscription connected-operations software platform (fleet telematics, safety, equipment monitoring) — SIC 7373, almost all revenue from subscriptions, so it sits in the software and IT services industry the thesis scopes. co-founder Sanjit Biswas, age 44, is CEO and chair per the FY2027 proxy (record date June 1, 2026); the same proxy's ownership table shows 99,968,305 Class B shares plus ~1.2m Class A, 39.6% of total voting power, and roughly 17% of the ~582m shares outstanding — clearing both the 3% economic and 10% voting tests. $24bn market cap puts it in the satellite pool, NYSE-listed since December 2021 (over three years), no succession disclosed. the founder mechanism operates with no intermediation — founder as CEO, controlling vote, in-scope industry, mid-cap — so this portfolio's angle is fully expressed → pure play, 1.0.

TTDThe Trade Desk, Inc.

The Trade Desk is a single-segment demand-side advertising platform (sic 7370, adtech — in the portfolio's named industry set), listed on Nasdaq since 2016, 2025 revenue $2.90bn, market cap about $5.8bn → inside the $1–50bn satellite pool. co-founder Jeff Green has been president, ceo and director since november 2009 and chairs the board; the 2026 special-meeting proxy (ownership as of july 31, 2026) shows him with 11.6m class A and 42.1m class B shares (97.6% of class B) → 50.2% of total voting power and roughly 11% economic ownership, clearing both the 3% economic and 10% voting tests. a september 2025 shareholder vote pushed the class B sunset out ten years, so control is durable over the horizon. age 49, no succession disclosed. founder-ceo with majority voting control of the entire business → pure play for this portfolio.

RBLXRoblox Corporation

Roblox runs a single business — a user-generated games platform with a Robux virtual economy — so there is no segment mix to dilute the governance exposure. the 2026 DEF 14A (filed 2026-04-16) names David Baszucki as Founder, President, CEO and Chair, serving since March 2004; the beneficial ownership table as of 2026-02-13 shows him holding all 47,070,464 Class B shares (20 votes each) plus 1,207,212 Class A, 58.8% of total voting power and roughly 6.8% of economic shares outstanding (48.3m of 710.0m). both the 3% economic and 10% voting tests clear. market cap 32.5bn sits inside the 1–50bn satellite band, listing date 2021-03-10 clears the three-year floor, NYSE-listed US issuer, interactive media industry in scope. the mechanism is observable in the accounts: fy2025 R&D of 1.57bn on 4.9bn revenue (~32%) plus ~0.5bn capex, no salary for the CEO since 2021, no buyback programme, sustained GAAP losses while reinvesting.

SNAPSnap Inc.

Snap runs Snapchat, an advertising-funded visual-messaging and AR social platform — the platform reference says advertising sales produce most of revenue, with Specs AR glasses a small line. co-founder Evan Spiegel is CEO; the July 2026 information statement names him co-founder and chief executive officer and says he and co-founder Murphy hold over 99% of voting power through Class B and Class C stock, with Spiegel able to act alone. the FY2025 10-K ownership table puts Spiegel at 53.1% of total voting power and about 159.6m shares across classes, roughly 9.5% of the ~1.68bn outstanding at the record date. founder and ownership tests both clear, the business is in-scope interactive media, listed 2017, and at $9.9bn sits inside the satellite band. allocation behaviour matches the claim: still loss-making while funding a multi-year AR hardware bet (Specs at $2,195). for this founder-CEO satellite sleeve the name is a pure expression → 1.0.
